Oh yeah another star from Emlazi making huge moves in the city. Jabulani Siyabonga Cindi popularly known as Jay-B is a Durban based artist whose actually an all round talent as He considers himself a Rapper, Producer, Singer & Song Writer, now having worked with a number of major artist in the game, it’s surprising that Durban is still sleeping on him..
He has been in the game since 2009. He’s done work for Gagasi FM (a jingle for Hip Hop Session). He’s also worked with guys like Mhlathi, Injinga, HCL, Ayanda Makukule, Teabag etc. He has performed all over KZN and been on Radio Shows such as Gagasi FM, uKhozi FM, Vibe FM & Nanda FM. Man it’s obvious that the hommie knows his thing. At the age of 22 he has produced an award winning EP by Mhlathi (OMAz 2010). He’s also managed to get himself a nomination for ‘producer of the year’.
In 2012 Jay-B decided to release music of his own and dropped ‘Houseparty’ which featured HCL. He also did a remix of the song and featured HCL, Mhlathi and Ayanda Makukule, the song was such a hit that it went on to be playlisted on Gagasi FM & uKhozi FM, he also performed the Song at the OMAz in the same year.
The following year he dropped ‘The Block Is Hot’ featuring Mhlathi again and the song also went on to be play listed on Gagasi FM & uKhozi FM. Seems like what he knows what to give the people, so during the summer of 2013 he released a joint EP with Mhlathi, they sold it door to door in their hood eMlazi and managed to move 300 units.
In 2014 he joined ‘Cultured Chaos Entertainment’ and on the 21st of march he dropped his first Solo Project titled ‘031 Affair Prelude’ which we all can guess is a taste of what’s to come, the project contained 7 tracks. He produced 6 of the 7 tracks and the track ‘Act Like It’ was produced by TeaBag. TeaBag was also responsible for mixing and mastering the project. He featured the likes of ; ‘Malacosta’, ‘Slyc’, ‘Silver Bee’, ‘Sabotage’, ‘Teabag’ & ‘Elvy’, and also dropped a music video on YouTube for ‘Young Fly Mjida’.
As 2015 is a month away, I for one can’t wait to see what the hommie has in store, looking at his profile makes you wonder what else the kid will turn to gold. Do you think he has what it takes you be at the top in 2015?
